Help us identify the kids in this photo which was taken serveral years ago before Lydia Dabel (the lady on the left) retired from our Star Valley Branch Library in 1985. The photo was found during recent housecleaning in the Children's Room at the library with nothing to give us a hint as to what the occasion was and the background and floor don't appear to be in the library It took me a minute to recognize the "young" woman on the right--it's Grace Marland, me! Some of the kids look familiar but since I sometimes forget what happened yesterday (the older me), I'm not sure. It would be fun to know who the kids are and what they're doing today. |
FORGET-ME-NOT! My daughter, Cheri, is a Girl Scout leader of Troop 1123 in Grantsville, UT. Recently they did something spectacular! To earn their Theatre Badge, the girls read the classic story, Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. Then they saw the movie. And finally they attended the play at the Hale Theater to which I was invited. Afterwards we went out to dinner that made the evening complete and was almost as anticipated with as much excitment as the play by the girls--well, me, too! Do you think these young ladies will ever forget this story written in 1868, way before their time--I think not. I always want to know the author and I would recommend reading Invincible Louisa by Cornelia Meigs or a visit to the official website at www.louisamayalcott.org. One of our llibrary families actually visited the Orchard House in Concord, MA during their summer vacation. They said it was a great experience. |

UPDATE!! UPDATE!! UPDATE!! |
I took this picture to a young lady that I just knew was in the front row but she said "No, that's not me". But we did identify the girl in the top row, No. 5 from the left, as Michelle Cummings. What is she doing now? Now here's the funny part, I kept looking at the boy sitting on the floor right in front of me and thinking he looked familiar. Well, my daughter was looking around the site, e-mailed me and said the only child she recgonized was this boy. Guess what, he's my son...my baby, Layne Hyde. Isn't he cute? Can you believe me?!? He is living in Sandy, UT, working as a computer technician, has a 14-year old son, Drey, and just got married to Ashley on July 13, 2007. We have determined that the scene is at the old Extension Building next to the Star View Park where we had moved the library during a remodeling at the present location. This was taken during a summer reading program, "Get A-Round Tuit" in 1983. The reading participants received round tuits to spend at businesses in Afton. |
