Kirby Larson
Congratulations to Larson who received a 2007 Newbery Honor award for Hattie Big Sky. She loves research which she had to do
for this book based on her step great-grandmother. She lives in Seattle, WA where she is a teacher. She says when she is not
reading, writing or teaching, she enjoys gardening, bird watching and traveling
.
Larson has two great websites.Look at
Website #2.
Mary E. Lyons
Lyons lived in several states and towns in the south and she feels that experience drew her to record the lost stories of women
and African Americans. Being in new places so often with people she didn't know as a child, Lyons read to escape. She came
from a family of readers and they all read anywhere, anytime but there was one rule: No reading at the dinner table. Her favorite
pasttime is playing the banjo and penny whistle for a band called The Chicken Heads.
Max Lucado
Lucado was a senior minister at the Aok Hills Church in San Antonio, TX until his retirement in early 2007. Besides his mininstry,
he has written numerous books for adults and children, winning accolades for his work, as well as his own radio show,
"UpWords". He and his wife served as missionaries in Brazil for five years. With the praises given to Lucado, he says his greatest
accomplishment is finding his wife and having his three daughters.

Lucado's official website isn't the best, focusing on his adult books, but you can get a list of children's book he has written.
Melinda Long
This author has written four children's book, two of which are about pirates. She thinks she was influenced in writing those two
books by her burying lots of treasure in her backyard when she was a child. Long lives in South Carolina close to two former
pirate hangouts.
Cynthia Lord
Lord's first friend was her sister and they had many adventures together. Happy, Peppermint, Fantastic Mrs.Fox and Winnie
the Pooh
were her favorite childhood books which she still has in her library. She says she loves her computer because no one
can tell how many mistakes she makes. The author lives on the coast of Maine with her husband, 2 children and the cutest little
white dog you have ever seen. She received a 2007 Newbery Honor award for
